Questions people ask us

Before you start your first mock

Is this the actual promotion exam?+

No. CivilPrep is an independent practice tool built by a candidate's family. It follows the structure, section weights, and syllabus of the Federal Civil Service Directorate level promotion exam so you can rehearse under realistic conditions, but no question here is a leaked paper.

How are the 100 questions split between sections?+

Section A, Public Service Rules 2021 takes 30 questions. Section B, Financial Regulations takes 20. Section C, Professional and Education takes 35. Section D, the General Paper (Civil Service Handbook and current affairs) takes 15. That adds up to the full 100-question paper.

Will I see the same questions on my next attempt?+

Only after you have worked through the fresh ones. The engine always picks questions you have never seen first, and only when a section runs out does it fall back to the ones you have seen the fewest times, with the answer options reshuffled so the muscle memory doesn't carry over.

What score counts as a pass?+

70 percent. That is the threshold the Federal Civil Service Commission applies on the real Directorate level paper, so we use the same mark here to keep your practice honest.

How long is each session, and can I pause it?+

Each full mock runs for 70 minutes, the same length as the real paper. You can cancel at any point, but partial attempts are not scored, so treat every start like the real exam. You cannot pause and come back later.

Where do the questions come from?+

Section A is drawn strictly from the 19 chapters of the Public Service Rules 2021. Section B follows the Financial Regulations. Section C covers the Federal Ministry of Education professional syllabus, including educational psychology, curriculum studies, school management, and policy. Section D blends the Civil Service Handbook with rotating Nigerian and international current affairs.

Who can see my results?+

Only you. Your account, attempt history, scores, and bookmarks are private. Admins can review the shared question bank for quality, but they cannot see your individual answers or scores.

Your next 70 minutes could be your first full mock.
