About this project

Built for one officer, opened up for the rest.

CivilPrep is a free, timed practice platform for the Nigerian Federal Civil Service Directorate level promotion exam. It exists because someone we love had an exam to sit and nothing honest to practise with.

Why it exists

CivilPrep started as a favour, not a product. One officer in our family was preparing for the Federal Civil Service promotion exam, moving from Grade Level 15 to Grade Level 16, Assistant Officer to Deputy Officer, and there was nowhere sensible to rehearse.

What existed was scattered: photocopied past questions with no answer keys, WhatsApp broadcasts of dubious provenance, and no clock. You could read the Public Service Rules cover to cover and still walk into the hall never having answered 100 questions in 70 minutes. That gap, between knowing the material and performing under a timer, is what this site was built to close.

What it is

A free, timed rehearsal of the real paper. Every session is 100 questions across the four examined sections, on a single 70-minute countdown enforced on the server, marked against the same 70 percent pass mark the Commission applies.

Section A draws on the Public Service Rules 2021. Section B follows the Financial Regulations. Section C is the professional paper, drawn from the education syllabus of the Federal Ministry of Education. Section D is the General Paper, blending the Civil Service Handbook with current affairs. The weights mirror the real sitting, so a score here means something.

Who it is for

Officers sitting the Directorate level promotion exam in the Federal Ministry of Education. The professional paper follows the education syllabus, and it keeps growing as more verified material is added.

Every candidate sits the same four sections, exactly as they are in the real exam: no separate tracks, no set-up to configure before you begin.

How it works

Every attempt is a fresh paper. Questions you have never seen are picked first, and only when a section runs low does the engine fall back to the ones you have seen least, with the answer options reshuffled so muscle memory cannot carry you.

Submit and you see your per-section score immediately, the correct answer and an explanation for every question, and a 30-question drill assembled from precisely what you got wrong. Bookmark anything tricky, run your bookmarks as a focused drill, and export your results and study plan as a PDF.

Where the questions come from

The syllabus documents themselves: the nineteen chapters of the Public Service Rules 2021, the Financial Regulations, the ministry professional syllabus, and the Civil Service Handbook, supplemented by past-paper compilations that were digitised, cleaned and checked question by question.

The bank now runs to thousands of items, each carrying a source reference so it can be audited. Every question has a report button. When something is wrong, a typo, a bad key, an item off syllabus, it gets reviewed and fixed rather than quietly left in circulation.

What it is not

CivilPrep is an independent study companion. It is not official, not endorsed by, and not affiliated with the Federal Civil Service Commission or any ministry. Nothing here is a leaked paper. It follows the published structure and syllabus so you can practise honestly, and that is all it claims to do.

Your results are yours

Your account, attempt history, scores and bookmarks are private to you. Administrators review the shared question bank for quality; they cannot see your individual answers or your scores.

Who built it, and when

CivilPrep was built by Gozirim, a UI designer, AI builder and engineering student, beginning in 2026 as a single 50-question prototype for one family member's promotion exam. It grew from there: the full 100-question blueprint, the four-section syllabus, the 70-minute clock, thousands of reviewed questions, an admin console for keeping the bank clean, and explanations tied back to the source rule.

It is still growing. New banks are added as the material is researched and verified, and it stays free for anyone preparing for the same paper.

The best way to understand it is to sit one paper.
